a baby shower fiesta

I've fallen behind on baby shower blogging. Several weeks ago, my dear church family threw a baby shower fiesta for me. I was so amazed at the decorations and thankfully we were able to capture it since the Mister came along (his photography skills are far better than mine).

Lunch was a yummy taco bar, complete with five kinds of salsa.

We played two shower games. I'm not usually one for games, but I played along and everything worked out just fine ;-) In one game (shown below), everyone ripped off a length of toilet paper that was their guess of how big my baby bump is. Lots of apologies were made as I held up each piece of TP to see whose piece was closest!

Another game was a quiz of nursery rhymes we had to name. These were hard...I have a lot of re-learning to do when it comes to knowing my nursery rhyme titles. And finally, we were given names of Bible characters and had to name their parents...by far, the hardest quiz! The bottom right photo shows my mother-in-law and I discussing Bible characters' parents.

I can't thank the lovely hosts enough! They are such loving and supportive friends and it was clear how much they already love this little one-- from the decorations to the food to the games.

What you may not be able to see from the decor, is that they printed off several photos of me and my mom (in addition to photos of me and Brandon). My mom passed away 12 years ago, and as you may imagine this season has had its challenges without the loving support of a mother. By including photos of her and giving me the sweet frame (shown below), I was reminded of how her legacy lives on.

I am so thankful my mother-in-law could be there to share in such a fun celebration.

My church family is seriously so good to me! Just looking over these photos weeks later, it is a sweet reminder of how we've been blessed to have so many friends around us during this exciting season of life.

Baby G, we can't wait to meet you and introduce you to all these friends!

  3. What a fun shower! And how thoughtful of your friends to include photos of your mom, that is really touching.

Also, I spy pretties by meg hanging from your ears! I have the same pair from her.
