a Mother's Day date in the city

We found ourselves downtown on Sunday afternoon for an impromptu Mother's Day date. I had to get a photo for my alumni association in an iconic Boston spot.  Thankfully, the rain held off and we had a delightful afternoon in the city, starting off at Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market.

The idea of eating on the patio is somewhat novel to most New Englanders this time of year, given the unpredictable weather. We settled on lunch at the Salty Dog for tasty seafood, sunshine and people watching.

The mister loves his oysters (and I do too, but had to pass since they're not on the list of pregnant-friendly foods).

I enjoyed a salmon BLT for lunch.

And he had fish and chips.

After lunch we strolled up toward TD Bank Garden. I love the reflection Brandon got of himself in my sunglasses.

A few of the shots I'm submitting to my alumni association...go Bears!

How did you spend your Mother's Day? As I mentioned on Friday, it can be a difficult time, not only for those who have lost their mom, but for those who long to be mothers. I don't take the day lightly and hope no matter where you were or who you spent time with, you had a chance to reflect on the blessing moms, mother-in-laws, and mother-like figures have been in your life.

  2. I LOVE The city this time of year. I haven't been down in so long. we planned on going down for a date a few weeks ago but it was the day after the bombing so we stayed around here. I will have to head in again soon! I remember eating at the salty dog on the patio a year or so ago around this time of year and being FREEZING haha
