stuffed green peppers

I've been cooking some of my favorite recipes I remember growing up.
My mom was a good cook, who valued simplicity
and "one pot" meals [as do I].
ingredients:
3-4 green peppers
1 lb. lean ground beef
1 bag pre-cooked rice
1/4 c. minced onion
salt & pepper
1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
8 oz. can tomato sauce

directions:
bring water to boil in stock pot [enough to cover peppers]
preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit
cut tops off peppers
boil peppers for 5 minutes
dice onion, set aside
combine ground beef, rice, onion, Worcestershire,
salt, pepper and 1/2 can tomato sauce
after removing peppers from water, place in greased
glass backing dish and stuff with meat mixture
and top with tomato sauce
bake for 45 minutes or until cooked through

  1. we were just talking about stuffed peppers this weekend! My mom used to make them too, and I love them. My husband is convinced that they're gross, cause he's only ever had the stouffer's frozen ones. I'm determined to make these soon!
