c.l.a.w. part 3

the creating leaders at work (c.l.a.w.) series
continues for our senior student employees of the rondileau campus center
[posts about past sessions can be found here and here].
for our third meeting, the focus was service. it can be challenging to do on-site service projects as well as set something up to travel to off-campus due to scheduling conflicts. i heard about project linus from a colleague over a year ago; they coordinate handmade blanket donations for infants + children to local hospitals. we spent the evening, cutting fleece to make blankets that will be given to project linus. interestingly, this session had the highest attendance of all three leadership sessions thus far.
the group made 8 blankets in an hour and a half.
we discussed how service relates to the leadership challenge, our model for the program, and agreed it exemplifies model the way and encourage the heart the most of the five practices of leadership.
students shared past experiences with service projects and were encouraged to take time to serve their community.
